At marhaba!, your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, and your answers during onboarding (your starting level, learning goals, and placement quiz results). We also collect data generated by your use of the app - such as lessons completed, words and grammar rules learned, quiz scores, session length, and your streak - to power your personalised learning experience and progress tracking.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to provide and improve the marhaba! service, personalise your learning path and starting level, track your progress, send daily reminders and trial-ending alerts (if enabled - these are scheduled locally on your device), verify your account by email, and communicate important updates about your account or subscription.
Third-Party Services We Use
We share the minimum data necessary with a small number of service providers to run the app: Firebase (Google Cloud) hosts our database and backend functions and stores your account and learning data; Resend sends account verification and password reset emails to the email address you provide; RevenueCat and the Apple App Store process and manage subscription billing and share your subscription status with us; and Anthropic processes the text you submit through the "Translate with Marhaba" AI feature in order to generate a translation (the underlying search itself uses Google's public translation service). We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use any advertising or analytics tracking SDKs.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure), which may process data in the United States or other countries where Google operates. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. You can permanently delete your account and its data directly from the Settings screen, or contact us at trymarhabaapp@gmail.com to exercise these rights.
Children's Privacy
marhaba! is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of marhaba! after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
